WHAT IS FAIRBOOKING?
ww.fairbookingwales.com
Fairbooking is an international initiative aimed at getting more visitors to book direct with accommodation provider. Helping to combat the increasing reliability of using high commission channels for bookings
WHY IS THIS IMPORTANT?
This is important for a number of reasons. The obvious being that accommodation providers are often left short by being charged as much as 25% commission on bookings received!
Less Money = Less investment!
This can have a huge impact on a business’s ability to reinvest in their accommodation, as well as having an impact on their local communities, less profit can often mean less local spend, less staff and in some cases lower wages.

WHY WOULD VISITORS GET INVOLVED?
Society is becoming more and more aware of local issues and are often happy to help (as long as they’re not left out of pocket)
The Fairbooking businesses are committed to providing:
1) Best Deal Offering visitors something ‘extra’ when they book direct, this is up to the discretion of the individual accommodation, e.g. free room upgrade, tea/coffee/drink upon arrival, free breakfast, bottle of wine with dinner etc.
2) Give Something Back For every booking a provider receives, a minimum of 50p is to be donated to a chosen charity – this can be done in a number of ways - from putting 50p in a jar every time a booking comes through, to sending a cheque to the charity every week/month/annually whatever suits your business.
3) Best Price! Businesses need to guarantee that the visitor WON’T find you cheaper on another site! The best price has to be through booking direct in order for the initiative to succeed.
