Croeso i Bawb funding deadline extended, giving Mid Wales tourism businesses more time to apply22/9/2026 Tourism and hospitality businesses across Mid Wales have been given an extra week to apply for grants of up to £20,000 to help improve accessibility for visitors.
The deadline for applications to the Welsh Government’s Croeso i Bawb accessibility fund has been extended to 5pm on Monday, 28 September 2026. The extension follows feedback from the tourism and hospitality sector and recognises the pressures businesses have faced during a particularly busy summer season. The fund offers grants of between £5,000 and £20,000, contributing up to 75% of eligible capital costs, to help tourism and hospitality businesses make practical accessibility improvements. Funding is intended to support physical changes that remove barriers and make it easier for people with a wide range of access needs to visit and enjoy tourism and hospitality businesses across Wales. Potential projects include accessible bedrooms and bathrooms, improved step-free access, widened or automatic doors, accessible reception areas, hearing support facilities, accessible parking and visitor routes, improved signage, sensory-friendly spaces and adaptations to leisure or visitor experience areas. Eligible tourism and hospitality businesses and social enterprises must employ fewer than 250 people, have been trading for at least one year, have their own website and meet the scheme’s other eligibility requirements. MWT Cymru is encouraging tourism and hospitality businesses across Mid Wales to use the additional time to check the eligibility criteria and consider whether planned accessibility improvements could qualify for support. For independent tourism businesses, finding time to investigate funding opportunities during the main visitor season can be difficult. The extended deadline provides an additional opportunity for businesses that may not yet have completed an application to review the guidance and decide whether the fund is relevant to them. Businesses should not assume accessibility improvements are limited to major building projects. The scheme covers a range of potential improvements designed to make tourism experiences more accessible and inclusive. Applicants should read the full scheme guidance carefully before applying and are also required to watch the scheme’s Introduction to Accessibility video. Successful applicants are expected to be notified by early November, with funded projects completed and all expenditure incurred and claimed by 12 March 2027. The new application deadline is 5pm on Monday, 28 September 2026. Tourism and hospitality businesses considering an application can find the full guidance, eligibility criteria and application information through Visit Wales. Leave a Reply. |
