Young adventurers have the chance to become dragon egg hunters at The Silver Mountain Experience visitor attraction near Aberystwyth, this Easter.
Resident dragon, Grotty and her mum, Cordelia, have carefully hidden precious eggs across the site while they wait for them to hatch. The problem is Grotty has hidden them a little too well and needs some help to ensure they are safe and sound. Visitors are invited to hunt for the mysterious dragon eggs hidden around the site and successful explorers will receive a tasty reward as a thank you for their help. The Dragon Egg Hunt will run on select days between March 31 and April 16. The attraction’s Minecraft Trail, which is popular with gaming fans, is another Easter treat for visitors. Participants are challenged to locate a series of missing Minecraft-style ore blocks hidden throughout the grounds. Once discovered, each block’s position must be plotted on an explorer’s map, encouraging children to practise map-reading, problem-solving and a little real-world adventuring. Families can also visit the on-site Minecraft gaming station, where children can explore a custom-built digital re-creation of Silver Mountain’s underground mine. All activities are included with the choice of one guided, actor-led tour. Families can join the interactive A Dragon’s Tale to help find Grotty, step into the dark with The Black Chasm to uncover ancient myths and grisly mining legends, or experience A Miner’s Life, which offers a fascinating glimpse into the area’s rich mining history. Tickets also include access to Woohoo Woods, outdoor play areas, trails, puzzles and the mining museum, which is packed with historic tools, machinery and stories from the past. For those seeking an extra challenge, Ultimate Xscape offers two exciting escape room adventures on site. For hungry visitors, The Miner’s Rest Café serves fresh snacks, cakes and treats, as well as delicious, pre-booked afternoon teas, while just next door, the Red Kite Café offers hearty breakfasts and meals.
