Caernarfon Castle, Gywnedd Credit: Visit Wales Asset Library. Tourism businesses, residents and stakeholders across Gwynedd are being encouraged to take part in two important consultations currently being undertaken by Cyngor Gwynedd. The consultations focus on:
Both consultations have the potential to influence future decisions affecting tourism, local communities and businesses across the county. For that reason, it is important that as many voices as possible are represented. Gwynedd Residents' Tourism Survey Cyngor Gwynedd is seeking feedback from local residents on the impact of tourism within their communities. The survey explores a range of topics including employment, the local economy, quality of life, the environment, heritage and Welsh culture. The findings will help build a clearer picture of how tourism is viewed across Gwynedd and may help inform future policy discussions. If you live in Gwynedd, this is an opportunity to ensure your experiences and views are heard. The survey is open now and closes on 6 July 2026. The consultation opened on 20 May 2026 and closes on 26 July 2026. The proposed levy could have implications for accommodation providers, visitors, local communities and the wider visitor economy. While no decision has been made, the consultation is an opportunity for businesses and individuals to review the proposals and provide feedback before any future decisions are considered. Whether you support the proposal, have concerns about its potential impact, or simply wish to ensure your perspective is taken into account, taking part is important. View the consultation and submit your response: https://www.gwynedd.llyw.cymru/en/Residents/Have-your-say/Live-Consultations/Gwynedd-Visitor-Levy-Consultation.aspx Why Your Participation Matters Consultations provide an opportunity for decision makers to hear directly from the people and businesses who may be affected by future policies and initiatives. For tourism businesses, particularly independent businesses operating in rural communities, it is important that real experiences, opportunities and challenges are reflected in the evidence gathered. MWT Cymru encourages members, residents and stakeholders to review both consultations and take part where relevant. The more people who contribute, the more representative the feedback will be. With the Residents' Tourism Survey closing on 6 July 2026 and the Visitor Levy Consultation closing on 15 July 2026, we would encourage anyone with an interest in the future of tourism in Gwynedd to submit their views before the deadlines.
