Welsh Government Announcement: Adam Price has been appointed as the Welsh Government’s Cabinet Minister for Enterprise, Connectivity and Energy, with responsibility for tourism.
"His portfolio spans several areas that are critical to tourism businesses across Wales, including transport, digital connectivity, energy and wider business growth, all of which underpin a strong and competitive visitor economy. In an oral statement to the Senedd on 2 June, the Minister set out a new economic mission focused on closing Wales’s productivity gap with the UK and boosting wages. This includes plans to reform the skills system and establish a new national development agency. Alongside wider priorities outlined in the 100-day plan, this signals a more joined-up approach to supporting enterprise across Wales. For tourism businesses, this focus on growth, connectivity and investment is particularly significant. It points to a high priority on conditions for innovation, resilience and sustainable, long-term success, both for the visitor economy and the communities across Wales. The Minister will meet with stakeholders who make up the Visit Wales Visitor Economy Forum and is keen to engage more widely with tourism businesses and representative bodies across the sector in the months ahead."
