At World Travel Market 2018, Visit Wales met with a number of companies who reported that they are really keen to include more Wales product due to an increasing demand, especially for their FIT product (Fully Independent Tour (i.e. operators will arrange a holiday for independent travellers e.g. couples / families / friends who will travel by themselves as opposed to travelling with a group).
These companies have now provided background information, detailing what type of rates they require. VisitWales are now trying to reach out to the industry in Wales to make sure these opportunities are more widely known to relevant businesses that may be able to benefit. This year themed ‘Strength through Partnership post Brexit’, Wales Tourism Week is co-ordinated by the Wales Tourism Alliance (WTA) and designed to be a ‘celebration of the country’s tourism industry’. The week aims to raise the industry’s profile and highlight its huge revenue generating value and the job and career opportunities.
The WTA, along with its partners, calls on tourism organisations and businesses across the country to organise events during the week that promote the value of partnership and raise awareness of the industry’s importance to the Welsh economy. We would like to see as many MWT members as possible to take a few moments to complete this important short on-line questionnaire. The Annual Employment and Skills Plan survey aim is to identify business training needs and the skills that your business needs now and will need in the future. The survey results are used by Welsh Government to inform the funding of further education and work-based learning programmes. 2019 will be a year when we will see significant change in the political and economic landscape and there will never be a more important time to ensure that we have the right skills in the region to deal with the changes on the horizon. |
