Frequently Asked Questions
Q. Is MWT Cymru the same as Mid Wales Tourism?
A. Yes. MWT Cymru is Mid Wales Tourism. We changed our name to MWT Cymru in 2015 as we have an increasing number of members from West and South Wales. We were established in 1991 and over the past 25 years we have established ourselves as industry leaders in supporting the tourism business community and delivering innovative marketing campaigns.
Q. How much business should we expect to get from you?
A. How long is a piece of string! Your main source of enquiries and bookings should always be from your own website (or via your agency if you’re working with one). Members who regularly update their online availability and booking, send us press releases and participate in our marketing campaigns, will do better than those who don’t. We are not a booking agency, our aim is to drive business to you direct.
A whole host of factors will come into play relating to your own marketing e.g. what type of business do you run, how much are you charging etc. We can help by referring visitors to your website and providing top-up business.
You will receive regular updates from Guestlink and will be able to monitor the number of referrals our channels have generated for you.
Q. I’m already a member of my local tourism association. What additional benefits do I get by joining MWT Cymru?
A. We work closely with local tourism associations and value the important role they play. We represent our members at regional, national and international level, as well as local. Our marketing channels can provide your business with far greater reach, and our buying power can provide you with better deals and savings on a range of specialist services.
Q. I only want to appear on the Visit Wales website, www.visitwales.co.uk. Can you set up/update my details on here if I’m not a member of MWT Cymru?
A. Yes. We are data partners for Visit Wales so contact us and we will be happy to provide you with your username and log-in details so that you can manage your entry on this site, regardless of whether you’re a member or not. We also offer on-going help to non-members – but this is limited. If you would like to access our full range of marketing and support services please join membership.
N.B. Visit Wales do not display shops or places to eat and drink on their website.
Q. Do I have to be graded or accredited to join membership?
A. No, if you’re an accommodation business you do not have to be graded or accredited to join membership or to appear on our websites, www.visitmidwales.co.uk and www.showmewales.co.uk or on our Show Me Wales app.
However, you do have to be graded or accredited if you wish to appear on the Visit Wales website, www.visitwales.co.uk.

Q. If I join membership do I have to use Guestlink?
A. You need to use Guestlink to update your basic info; text, facilities, images etc. but not necessarily to update your availability. A number of availability & booking systems integrate using Guestlink + Connect - really useful as this will save you time updating multiple channels.
Guestlink + Connect provides an interface between your PMS and a wide variety of distribution channels.
