Destination Marketing - Why is it so important?
How often do we stop and think about how our visitors find out about Mid Wales and decide they want to visit the area?
We often hear from accommodation providers who say they get all their business through booking.com - they may well get bookings from this channel, but to use these websites, visitors have to know what town they're looking to stay in in the first place.
This is where MWT comes in. Our website channels don't just list members' information; they also have thousands of pages promoting walking routes, towns/villages, scenic places, picnic spots, hills, mountains, events... the list goes on.
Without continued investment in destination marketing that promotes the whole region, we're at risk of losing out to the competition. We want to encourage repeat visits but we also want to reach out to first time visitors.

FAQ's
Is Mwt Cymru The Same As Mid Wales Tourism?
Yes. MWT Cymru is also known as Mid Wales Tourism. We changed our name to MWT Cymru in 2015 as we have an increasing number of members from West and South Wales. We were established in 1991 to support the tourism business community and deliver innovative destination marketing campaigns.
Are you a booking agency?
No, we are not a booking agency. We are a not-for-profit membership and marketing organisation.
We encourage visitors to 'book direct' with accommodation owners/managers, and all our businesses' contact details are published on our websites for this reason.
Any bookings made directly on www.visitmidwales.co.uk are commission free (members will need to update their availability/actively use the booking system in order to take bookings on our websites). Many members do this, whilst some simply refer visitors to their own websites. The booking engine can also be plugged into your own website - please ask us about the options available.

I’m a member of my local tourism association. should i also join MWT Cymru?
We work closely with local tourism associations and value the important role they play. Local and regional membership organisations have different benefits. We represent our members at regional, national and international level. Our marketing channels can therefore provide your business with greater reach, and our buying power can provide you with better deals and savings on a range of specialist services. Our members also value the benefits of networking with tourism businesses throughout the region.
I would like to appear on the Visit Wales website, www.visitwales.com. Can you set up/update my details on here if I’m not a member of MWT Cymru?
There is a new product listing website enabling you to update your details on the Visit Wales website, or MWT Cymru members can continue updating Guestlink as normal.
