Fantastic news for S3 Advertising Agency who are in the running for Content Strategy of The Year for the work they did with us last summer on #RealMidWales. They're up against some huge brands including Virgin Holidays, Wella Professionals, Age UK Mobility, and many more. Good Luck, S3! We'll keep our fingers crossed for the awards ceremony in June.
You can download the Mid Wales Visual Signature Guide which S3 produced for #RealMidWales on our website. It can be used by all and is a template for taking distinctive Mid Wales photographs/video. The style was developed by working with the Visit Wales marketing team to ensure that the Mid Wales signature compliments the 'Wales Brand', so by working together we can make a bigger impact online.

#RealMidWales Live Stream Events10/10/2018 As part of our ongoing #RealMidWales campaign, we're pleased to announce that we will be running our 'Slow TV' Live streaming campaign next week!
Four streams on four consecutive days, starting on October 16. Escape to:
The more people that hear about Mid Wales the better for everyone. We'll be expecting a spike in traffic to our website so regardless of where your business is in relation to the live streams, if you are a member of MWT Cymru please make sure your information is up to date using Guestlink so you take advantage of this promotion. Picking up on the success of Airbnb's campaign (National Parks Backyard) and the success Norway have received with their Slow TV campaigns we aim to emulate this exciting new concept and really get the message out about Mid Wales. This is the first time 'Slow TV' will be used in the UK to market a destination in this way and MWT is proud to be leading the way in destination marketing. We're delighted that we have been able to run this campaign with the support of Visit Wales who have agreed to stream two live events to their nearly 1million followers! - providing us with some fantastic coverage for the Mid Wales region. Other partners on the project include RSPB Cymru, National Trust Cymru, Hafren Dyfrdwy and Natural Resources Wales; without them this project wouldn't be possible. To ensure we have the best coverage for Mid Wales please ensure you share these events with your visitors, groups, and friends. All event times/locations can be found on our Facebook page www.facebook.com/visitmidwales - register your interest in the events and get sharing! There will be 4 pages hosted on our VisitMidWales.co.uk website which will pull through events, things to do, accommodation etc, so this is a great opportunity for MWT members to get noticed. Rather than just raising awareness this is about driving business to Mid Wales. If you need any help updating your details or images, or if you have any questions about the campaign, please do not hesitate to contact the office on 01654 702653. The events start on Tuesday so look out for updates! Members of MWT can get access to 1 months FREE commission with Expedia. GDPR - Don't Panic!23/5/2018 GDPR - G-Day Tomorrow - Don't panic!
We have had calls from a number of members concerned and confused about the upcoming changes relating GDPR. Firstly - Don't panic. The latest advice on the Information Commissioners Officer website (ICO) can be found on https://ico.org.uk/for-organisations/marketing/ and MWT has asked Business Wales to see if they are able to arrange a GDPR session tailored specifically to the tourism industry. For now, we suggest that:
Electronic mail marketingThe most important thing to remember is that you can only carry out unsolicited electronic marketing if the person you're targeting has given you their permission. However, there is an exception to this rule. Known as the 'soft opt-in' it applies if the following conditions are met;
Your Legal Requirements Note - The customer’s rights under the GDPR do not over-ride the requirements of other legislation It is important to note that the customer’s rights under the GDPR don’t over-ride the data requirements of other legislation. For example, the Immigration (Hotel Records) Order 1972 requires you to record the full name and nationality of all guests and to keep this information for 12 months. As such, a guest cannot ask you to delete this information from your records until 12 months have elapsed. Similarly, a customer cannot ask you to delete any financial information you are required to keep for tax purposes. If you're unsure on GDPR and what it means then the Visit Britain Pink Books has a nice summery from the Tourism Alliance- See here for more info Visitor Attractions | Activity Providers | Guided Tours | Workshops | Events & Festivals
MWT is looking for visitor attraction, activity providers or event organisers in Ceredigion that really want to change and improve to the way they use digital selling techniques to attract visitors. The Real Ceredigion Experiences project is a new project run by Mid Wales Tourism, and we are seeking 12 non-accommodation businesses or organisations in Ceredigion to be selected to be part of this exciting pilot project. Businesses must be ready to take the plunge to sell online in real time and are really prepared to put time aside to make this a success. During the course of the Real Ceredigion Experiences programme, we expect businesses to become 'Exemplars' in their own use of new digital technologies, adopting new ways of working and selling successfully on-line to reach and attract a wider audience, and to share their experience with local networks and groups. Participating businesses and organisations will be expected to share their journey / experience. We will be exploring opportunities to develop local networks & cluster groups, and will be developing case studies in order to encourage other businesses in the area to learn from your success. Your Commitment is

What We're Doing
MWT is promoting our office helpline number directly to visitors on our new VisitMidWales.co.uk website. We have already dealt with a number of enquiries, and made reservations direct (and commission free) to MWT members. With TIC's reduced opening hours and some closures, some visitors still wish to book their accommodation by phone and we are taking a number of phone calls a day from visitors requesting information. This is great for our members (and for the region) and we have found our new shortlisting option on VMW particularly useful as we can easily use this to email accommodation details and late availability lists directly to visitors.
